Exotica 2009

Introduction: Carnival is a celebration and a parade with a combination of some circus elements. When carnival was created people dressed up in masquerade to celebrate the overturning of life. On labor day 2008 while watching the parade as a spectator, I realized there was a need for change. I decided to create a carnival masquerade band that would blend culture and creativity within the West Indian community. Exotica was born and it is a combination that represents newness, change, and the quality of masquerade. Thus, giving everyone the opportunity participating respectfully and tastefully in the Caribbean culture.

Mission Statement: Exotica is the creation of innovation, inspiration and individuality in Masquerade. We breathe life into masquerade with all the traditional amenities along with a futuristic flair of creativity.

Goal: Exotica will continue to embrace cultured spirit of our ancestors while broading the minds of our future band leaders. We will promote Caribbean culture within the community by educating the youths about their heritage. We want the youths to understand and be proud that they embedded in a culture full of artistic creativity.
